Aluminum catalyst PET resin with high recyclability

PET resin with high thermal stability and excellent resistance to degradation

Our company began selling aluminum-catalyst PET resin with excellent recycling properties in 2016.
We provide a license for the GS catalyst, a patented technology of Toyobo Co., Ltd., to Indorama Ventures PCL, the world’s largest PET resin manufacturer, which produces the resin.

Aluminum catalyst PET resin with high recyclability

Product features

01Excellent recyclability - low color tone change

Aluminum-catalyst PET resin exhibits high thermal stability during melting, making it less susceptible to color changes and changes in physical properties caused by heat treatment during recycling. Therefore, it is suitable as a material for promoting material recycling.

In an experiment where heat treatment was carried out at 300°C for 2 hours under nitrogen substitution, it was confirmed that the aluminum-catalyst PET resin showed almost no thermal degradation and was able to maintain its transparency.

Excellent recyclability - low color tone change

02Excellent recyclability - high intrinsic viscosity (IV) retention

Conventional PET resin products have mainly been recycled for sheet and fiber applications, and the number of times they could be recycled was limited due to the effects of thermal degradation.

In contrast, highly recyclable aluminum-catalyst PET resin has high thermal stability, making it suitable for bottle recycling for products such as soft drink bottles, where good moldability and transparency are required. It also promotes bottle-to-bottle horizontal recycling.

Furthermore, since thermal degradation is less likely to occur even after repeated recycling, the number of possible recycling cycles is higher than that of conventional products, enabling more effective utilization of resources.

03Environmental compatibility

Aluminum catalysts are one of the materials with a low environmental impact.
As interest in environmental issues continues to grow, the use of aluminum-based catalysts, which are considered to have a lower impact on the environment and human health, helps realize sustainable raw material sourcing.
